治××年の東京。闇の殺し屋『修羅雪姫』として名を馳せている女・鹿島雪。
雪はひとたび“殺し仕事”を請け負うと、蛇の目傘に仕込んだ刀で相手の息の根を止める。
その仕業は極めて冷徹であり、恐れも知らず、時として凄惨な成り行きになることも雪は厭わなかった。
一方で雪には大きな“宿命”があった。
“復讐”である。雪は豪商の一人娘として生まれたが、まだ幼き頃、盗賊4人組に両親を殺されたことにより、長じても怨念が消えることなく、仇を晴らすべく執念を燃やしていたのだ。
親の仇を求めて幾星霜。雪は4人組の手がかりを求め歩くが、それはなかなか得られるものではなかった。
そんなある日。雪は“殺し仕事”の相手先で、斬り倒した男が持っていた数珠から、ついに手がかりを得ることができた。
その数珠を雪の両親と親交のあった宮原骸骨に見てもらうと、それはまさしく、あの盗賊たちが雪の家から奪った、家宝の数珠の一組であったのだ。
雪はようやく間近に現れた仇相手に改めて怨念をたぎらせる。
